SCD Tip: Instant Pot Iced Tea

Make iced tea in your Instant Pot

Not long ago I shared a post about making a slightly sweet iced tea, using fresh mint, in an Instant Pot. But, you can also easily make a great plain black iced tea.

Instant Pot Iced Tea

I love doing this because I can get a big batch of tea that tastes great and has no additives whatsoever. If you take a look at my mint tea recipe you can see some of the reasons why you can get a better taste using an Instant Pot than just boiling water and seeping the tea that way.

If you love tea, as I do, this is a great way to always have some ready.

Ingredients

  • 2 large tea bags or 2 regular size
  • 3 quarts filtered water

Instructions

  1. Add water and tea bags to  Instant Pot. In my 6 qt, it came to the half way marker.

  2. Make sure lid is on sealing setting and pressure cook tea for 4 minutes.

  3. Allow tea to natural  release for  15 – 20 minutes and then you can do the quick release to depressurize the rest of the way. Turn off heat, don’t use the Keep Warm setting.

  4. Allow tea to cool down before pouring into pitcher.

  5. If tea is too strong mix with a little cold filtered water before serving and/or a lot of ice. Tea is very dark, but doesn’t taste as strong as it looks.
