SCD How To: How To Make Homemade Peanut Butter

With the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)™ it’s always the best bet to make your own food. When you make your own, you know what ingredients have gone into it.

Finding good nut butters – peanut, almond, cashew, etc can be daunting and expensive. The good news is, nut butters are easy to make. This How To is for peanut butter. I love making peanut butter because you only need two ingredients – dry roasted peanuts and salt. With other nuts you need to add a little oil and we’ll explore that in a separate post.

You can of course roast your own peanuts, but I like to by mine already roasted. You just need to check your source. I use Nuts.com because I checked with them and they don’t add anything that’s not listed on their label so I feel good about using their Peanut Butter Stock Dry Roasted Peanuts. You should use whatever you feel most comfortable with.

When you make peanut butter, the most important thing is to be patient. The first time I tried, I had poweder, but that was only because I didn’t process it for long enough. Luckily I decided to keep going and low and behold, my powery peanuts finally became peanut butter!

Check out my How To instructions and video and give it a try! You won’t be disappointed – best tasting peanut butter around.
