I like trying to make different biscuit recipes. This one is one of my favorites, it has the most biscuit-like texture that I’ve made so far.
These go great with soup or chili!
SCD Cheese and Garlic Biscuits
These have a garlic bread flavor with an old-fashioned drop biscuit texture.
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 35 minutes
Servings 6 biscuits
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups almond flour
- 2 1/2 tbsp coconut flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp coconut milk or plain yogurt
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 2 1/2 tbsp butter or ghee cold
- 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese grated
- 1 tsp minced garlic
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
-
Combine all ingredients except butter in a large bowl
-
Mix on medium speed until combined
-
Combine in butter - if using a stand mixer the dough hook works for this, or you can use a pastry cutter to do it by hand. There should be visible pieces of the butter showing
-
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
-
To make biscuits: you can flatten out the dough and use a biscuit cutter to form the biscuits. Or you can hand form the biscuits individually. You should get 6 - 8 depending on what size you make them
-
Place the biscuits a couple inches apart on the sheet
-
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until biscuits are golden brown
-
Cool on wire rack
-
Store in air-tight container in refrigerator or freeze
-
Reheat in toaster oven
