SCD Yogurt

Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 1 day 2 hours 30 minutes
Servings 64 oz


  • 1 half gallon milk
  • 1/2 cup plain commercial yogurt or 2 packets Yogourmet starter


  1. Add milk to large pot
  2. Cook over medium-high heat until milk starts to bubble - about 15 - 20 minutes. Stir constantly
  3. Let bubble for two minutes
  4. Remove from heat
  5. Pour into batch jar
  6. Cool for two hours
  7. Mix 1/2 cup commercial yogurt with 1 cup of the milk until it is smooth
  8. Stir into the rest of the milk
  9. Place lid on batch jar, add correct water level to Yogourmet yogurt maker, plug in, add batch jar, cover and leave it alone for 24 hours
  10. Remove from yogurt maker and refrigerate for a few hours before eating

Recipe Notes

If you are making yogurt from whipping cream you will need to refrigerate it for about 8 hours before whipping it. Otherwise it will just turn to liquid if you try to whip it.
