Making applesauce in an Instant Pot is quick and easy. What’s great is you can experiment with different flavors by adding in different fruits and spices. This Apple-Mango sauce is so refreshing. It has a light, creamy texture and is full of tropical mango flavor.
This sauce is great for breakfast, snacks, or a light dessert. I like to mix it with yogurt.
I used a combination of Fuji and Granny Smith apples for this because I like a slightly tart sauce, but you can use any type of apples you like. The best apples for applesauce are: Fuji, Honeycrip, Gala, Golden Delicious, Pink Lady, and Granny Smith.
When you make applesauce in an Istant Pot you don’t necessarily have to peel the apples. The apple skin will get very sauce and can be pureed into the sauce. However, if you like a chunkier sauce you might be able to detect the skins so you may want to peel them anyway.
SCD Instant Pot Apple-Mango Sauce
- 2 ½ lbs apples (use your favorite kind for sauce or a mixture of kinds)
- 2 cups chopped mango (fresh or frozen)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ⅓ cup water
Peel (if peeling) and chop apples
If using fresh mango – peel and chop
Add apples, mango, cinnamon, and water to Instant Pot inner pot
Put lid on Instant Pot and make sure valve is set to sealing
Set manual or regular pressure for 12 minutes
It will take several minutes for the Instant Pot to come to pressure before the 12 minutes of pressure cooking starts
Once the 12 minutes of cooking is done, allow the Instant Pot to depressurize naturally for 10 minutes before doing the quick release to release the rest of the pressure
Puree sauce with hand blender or regular blender until desired consistancy
Store in refrigerator for up to a week
It is optional to peel the apples. The apple skin will get very soft in the Instant Pot and will puree with the rest of the sauce. However, it may still be detectable, especially if you like chunkier sauce.
