SCD Recipe: Intant Pot Honey Mint Tea

Why make tea in an Instant Pot?

This is the question I asked myself when I came across Instant Pot tea recipes online and it might be the same question you’re asking yourself right now. It’s not like it’s hard to make tea. You boil some water, add a tea bag and wait a few minutes. So why do it any different?

One answer:

Taste.

Yes, even tea in the Instant Pot tastes better. Granted, if you’re only making yourself one cup, your trusty teapot is still the way to go, but if you want to make up a batch of tasty iced tea, try out your IstantPot.

I won’t get too far into the science of it, but basically boiling water gives tea a bitter taste, but you need to boil water to properly steep the tea and make sure any unwated bacteria is killed.

In Instant Pot the water doesn’t boil under pressure, but the temperature reaches the temperature water would normally boil at. You then allow the Instant Pot to depressurize naturally for about 15 to 20 mintues. This keeps the tea hot and it is steeped perfectly.

If you are newer to SCD and drinking weak tea, you could use less tea bags for the amount of water.
