2,500 years ago Hippocrates said that “All disease begins in the gut.”
We all know that when you’ve got an “upset stomach” it can derail your day, your week, your year, and your life. Suddenly you’re missing work, canceling social engagements, and you become afraid to go anywhere. The thought of traffic jams, airplanes, and business meetings strikes terror in your heart. Forget about traveling, the beach, and hiking in the mountains.
Life becomes about your gut and avoiding the pain and embarrassing situations it can cause. Even though we’ve told everyone we just have an “upset stomach” we know that there’s more going on than that. I’ve been there and I know how these symptoms can disrupt your life. I used to have trouble staying awke at my desk at work – something my co-workers started to notice. The turning point for me was making my friends turn around and take me home when we were on our way to the movies one day.
I made up my mind that was never going to happen again. I made up my mind to take control of my life by taking care of myself and changing my diet.
It’s also said the gut is the “Mother” of the body because of how it feeds everything from our brain to our skin, in the same way a mother feeds child.
It’s also called the 2nd brain because of how similar they are, in fact 95% of the body’s serotonin is housed in the gut, not the brain!
It’s also called the “1st line of defense” because 80% of the body’s immune cells are in the gut. I mean think about that… the majority of your ability to fight infections and stay alive live resides in your gut.
You get the idea… The often overlooked gut is pretty darn important!
I now believe that the single most important thing most people can do to improve their health is to fix their gut… it’s the first place to start.
If you suffer from any of the following symptoms, you might have a sneaky gut condition called “Leaky Gut”…
- Low energy or Fatigue
- Brain fog
- Weight gain and stubborn fatness
- Sugar cravings
- Skin problems like pimples, rashes, or dryness
- Frequently sick with colds and flus
- Achy joints and muscles
Leaky Gut is real… and it’s a hidden epidemic in today’s world.
It’s been found in association with chronic diseases including: asthma, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, irritable bowel, kidney disease, psoriasis, chronic fatigue syndrome, and heart failure…
And yet, it’s commonly referred to as “The Disease Your Doctor’s Can’t Diagnose.”
If you’re still searching for the root cause of your chronic illness, I’m convinced the gut is the first place to look.
