SCD Beverage: Iced Chamomile Tea

You might not think of chamomile when you think of iced tea, but it is actually very good!

NOTE – Apparently chamomile may not be SCD legal. I personally have been drinking it for the entire time I have been on SCD. Here is some info on it – Chamomile Tea  – please feel free to share your thoughts and experiences.

I know a lot of people on SCD are frustrated with the lack of beverage options, especially those new to the diet.

Chamomile is known as a stomach soothing tea, and I have always been able to drink it. Until recently I had always had it hot, but I decided to give it a try as an ice tea. I turned out to be a nice mild refreshing drink.

It is also perfect for anyone following a low acid diet (meaning no peppermint tea!).

To make a big batch:

8 cups of water
9 chamomile tea bags
2 tsp honey (or to taste)

Boil water. Steep tea bags for 6 minutes. Remove tea bags. Stir in honey. Pour into a pitcher filled with ice. Serve very cold.
