SCD Recipe: Waffles

This was my very first waffle recipe and I made it many times. These are basic SCD waffles.


1 cup almond flour
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
3 eggs, separated
2 Tbsp honey
2 Tbsp butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup water

Sift almond flour, salt, and baking soda into a large bowl. Mix egg yolks, honey, butter, vanilla, and water in a separate bowl. Stir into the almond flour mixture. Mix well. Whip egg whites until stiff. Fold egg whites into the batter.

Refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Cook waffles according to waffle iron directions.

    These are so so good! I thought they might be dense and hard, but they are soft and light. Better than regular waffles I think. Thank you!

  3. I just ate a couple of these waffles,they were so good but they will burn fast if you leave them more than 5 min. in the waffle iron,maybe it’s my waffle iron. Now they have my little son’s seal of approval! Thanks for the recipe 🙂

  6. I’m following SIBO diet, but also going gluten and dairy free. Will ghee work with this instead of butter?

  7. I followed the recipe as written. These cooked well, tasted okay and my family liked them but for me they sat like a brick in my stomach (I’m the one with SIBO). I wouldn’t make them again.
